a room of sad eyes

If, you're reading this, then you've probably seen photos of Ava (the little girl on the drum set). Ava is Anna's daughter and Anna is my girlfriend. Tonight was there last night in NYC. They're moving to San Diego. I am flying out with them tomorrow to help them move. I too, will be moving to San Diego at an undetermined time. I don't want to get too personal, but there have only been a handful of moments in my life as emotional as tonight. When Anna and Ava said goodbye to everyone, I nearly lost it. They have become an integral part of all of our lives these past 8 months and we will miss them dearly.

on the road

before i get started i just have to give a shout out to this band i've been listening to non-stop for the past 2 days called 'Cloud Cult'. they are from minnesota, have an impressive record entitled 'Advice from the Happy Hippotamus' and two members of the band are "live painters" which is just like it sounds- two people that paint on stage during the show. check out their website (click here) and myspace page (click here)

so we're in the midst of planning this fall tour which i don't want to talk about much in efforts not to jinx it, but being unsigned and not having a manager makes it an incredible amount of work for us and speaking about it makes it feel like more of a reality. it's been quite and evolution and learning how to be business and creative at the same time is at the same time both incredibly rewarding and hugely draining.

it's gonna happen though, so go ahead and get excited.

it's been awesome too while this is going on, because i've been reading jack kerouac's book entitled 'on the road' and it's been an inspiration for me in terms of thinking about travelling this country of ours. sort of breaths some sort of new romance into the idea of seeing america.

The gods of rock might just hate us.

Hello all, its Whitt. Unfortunately Daniel Fickle, our lead guitarist, is sicker than a bag of poo. So we shant be playing at Trash tonight. No one is more disappointed than me, I assure you. We shall nurse him back to health like 3 mothers named Daniel, and we'll be back on stage as soon as mythically possible.

Mythically yours,

D. Whitt

a need to vent

I honestly haven't heard a new band in some time. I just haven't had time. I've been composing music for a documentary about baseball. No, I haven't really felt inspired. I don't even follow baseball. It's weird when I go from writing baseball themed music to Station Myth practice. I really don't mind baseball, I used to collect the cards when I was 12. I just don't like baseball music. I just haven't even gotten the chance to listen to any good or new music. I miss that.
