A pleasant trip to Arizona.
The Station Myth recently moved rehearsal spaces. In our search for a band to take our place in the old space, Daniel Ryan and I had the pleasure of meeting some members of the band Arizona. They didn't take the space, but they gave us a copy of their EP, and they told us a full-length was on its way in the next month or so.
You never know who's who. You never know when you meet someone whether or not they will make an impression. And although I haven't chatted with them since that day, their EP has been quite a companion to me. The EP is short (4 songs) but dense, and as the last song ends I don't mind that the first track immediately begins again.
They are a smart, affectionate bunch. Ben, the lead vocalist, expresses his ideas in such a vulnerable way... but the songs themselves are confident. Like us, they are not scared of odd timing, nor are they afraid to ignore standard song structure. It all works like a charm. They are very different from The Station Myth, but its wonderful for me to hear another band trying to pull off such an artistic endeavor. Much respect. Very refreshing sound.
